It’s been a busy year for start-up energy pioneer Energy Renaissance and it’s latest appointment makes it clear things are ramping up. This week sees the former head of UGL’s national power business, Mr. Mark Chilcote, formally join as Managing Director.

“IT’S VERY EXCITING TO HAVE MARK ON BOARD TO LEAD THE NEXT STAGE OF THE BUSINESS AS WE MOVE INTO DETAILED PLANNING FOR OUR FIRST MAJOR PROJECT. ‘RENAISSANCE ONE’ WILL BE A 1.3GWH LITHIUM ION BATTERY FACTORY AND THE FIRST OF IT’S KIND IN AUSTRALIA. MARK BRINGS A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE AND A SHARED PASSION FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE” STATED ENERGY RENAISSANCE CHAIR, SU MCCLUSKEY.

With more than 25 years experience in the power industry in Australia, Asia and Europe, Mark is “… absolutely convinced that this project is right for the country and for the planet”. Mark has been a strong advocate of Energy Renaissance since it’s inception over two years ago. “Storage is the unlock key for renewables and the key to achieving a renaissance in Australia’s manufacturing industry as part of the development of a high tech manufacturing sector that will contribute to a more sustainable future for Australia,” said Mr Chilcote.

In his role as Managing Director, Mark will report directly to the Energy Renaissance board and will steer the Renaissance One project through construction, operation and production. Former MD Brian Craighead will now spearhead development for the business in the role of Development Director. “I’m delighted to have Mark leading the business as we move closer to the construction phase of the project” stated Mr Craighead.
